iPad data service costs less than I expected, and you do not have to sign a contract with AT&T. That’s refreshing.
I found this under iPad Tech Specs on Apple.com:

So, not too shabby. If you can start out for $14.99 USD and figure out what you need, it could be quite reasonable. That is, if you generally use wifi instead of 3G, you might be able to get by for fifteen bucks.
OTOH, if you can get by with just wifi, you can skip even that. Good to know. Just in case.
