water entered on my iphone using the case I bought this case directly from Lifeproof in mid-November 2014 because Amazon did not stock it until after December 5 or so.Pros:Thin, good screen clarity, fully functional buttons, waterproof, shock resistant, fingerprint reader cover works a LOT better than one on the Otterbox Defender. “Free” shipping. At $79.99 for this case, a star player from your local pro hockey, baseball or football team should hand deliver the case to your home.Cons:High price, no belt clip as of 12/8/14, a stupid screw in and easy to lose “extension cable” required for most headphones and ear buds required to retain a waterproof seal. You really can’t plug most ear buds into this case without the extension cord except for the Bose ear buds. More on that fact in a minute. You also have the “Henry Ford” color choice – any color you want as long as it’s black and the fact that only original Apple lightning power cords work due to the small power connection access port. If you bought the Apple branded converter for the iPhone 4s to the lightning power tip, it won’t work with this case unless you remove the phone from the case (a total pain).Be prepared for an AVALANCHE of spam email from LifeProof and OtterBox if you give them your email. They seem to have sales about 5 times a week along with Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Arbor day, May Day, Insect Appreciation Day, Flag Day, Mother-in-law day, Ground hog day etc, but the ONLY stuff on sale is the on older junk they are trying to get rid of like iPhone 4 and 5 cases and bike mounts. In addition, if you post a review on the actual LifeProof website, they edit out anything they don’t like. That’s why I’m happy Amazon finally has this case in stock so it can be HONESTLY reviewed by users without getting edited. The overall reviews for this case on Amazon are 2 1/2 stars from ten users and on Lifeproof, the overall rating is nearly 5 stars from 72 users as of 12/8/14 because LifeProof is stuffing their own ballot box and editing out lower starred reviews. Pretty lame behavior on their part.In my initial review of the Fre case for the iPhone 6 on the LifeProof site, I mentioned my displeasure over the boat load of email you will get from both LifeProof and OtterBox and the LifeProof staff edited that comment out. I posted a second review citing that my Bose IE4 headphone jack fits without the stupid extension cable and they would not even publish that fact probably because they can’t sell you a replacement cable when you lose the original. Granted it’s not waterproof with the Bose ear buds plugged in without the screw in extension cable but there isn’t much water around the weight room I work out in unless I drop the phone into the toilet with the ear buds plugged in. One other little known fact is that the iPhone 6 Fre case WILL fit in the OtterBox Defender belt clip for the iPhone 6 – it doesn’t feel 100% secure but I’ve been rolling with that setup for about 3 weeks with not a single drop as long as you insert the Fre case into the Defender belt clip with the volume buttons facing down towards the ground.Bottom line is that the case is simply OK, nothing special and every accessory is ala carte except the head phone extension cable which comes with the case. Want a belt clip? You have to wait until the crack engineering squad at LifeProof has it totally fleshed out and then expect to pay an additional $29 or $39 for that amenity. Those are the facts of the case from my experience so far.1/20/15 update – I posted this precise update review on the LifeProof website today based on 2+ months of experience with this iPhone 6 case:I bought this case directly from Lifeproof in November of 2014 and have been using it since it was first available. (I don’t have any additional data on other cases because after spending $80 on this unit, my appetite for adventure exploring other options is low)Positives – screen cover works well, case protects the phone well, it is waterproof and the fingerprint scanner cover works as advertised.Negatives – As others have reported, I can corroborate that the mute button cover is close to useless. It takes 5-10 clicks to get it to work – very poor design. The extension cable for the headphones is a real pain – I always leave the cord in the wrong place and I can’t access the headphone port with a hard wire headphone unless I am using Bose ear buds – that plug fits without the extension cable. My solution was to go to Bluetooth headphones. Still no belt clip? Really? I’m using the belt clip from my Otterbox iPhone 6 case and it works OK.Summary – Slim design and basically a decent case but it’s over priced with a quirky mute button and annoying extension cable for headphones and still no belt clip. 100 other reviewers have beat up the power port problem so I won’t bother to go there. Oh, I just…
