The introduction of the Apple iPhone stirred up a huge public response. Users and reviewers rave over the wonders and beauty of this combinede cell phone, iPod, calendar and mobile Internet device. The real question is, why do you need to have an iPhone?
Of course, iPhone is a great product. It allows you to have many products wrapped up into one. But what are the real perks to having an iPhone? The answer to that question depends on whom you ask but there really are many reasons why the iPhone is a great buy.
Having an iPhone helps streamline your life. Many of us lead hectic and busy lives, with little time to relax. Having to keep track of a separate cell phone, iPod, GPS, and PDA can be a pain.
With an iPhone you get all those electronics in one elegantly designed, sophisticated product. Many people who used to carry around two or three electronic devices are thrilled at how easy and convenient their iPhone actually is.
They no longer have to worry about running out of pocket space for mobile devices. They can get on with life without having to worry about leaving their iPod at their friends’ house or their cell phone at the restaurant. With the iPhone, everything is packaged in a beautiful, one-of-a-kind design.
Another reason you need an iPod is that it puts the world at your fingertips, literally. Unlike other cell phones, which allow you to look at a dumbed-down version of the Internet, with the iPhone, you are actually surfing the net.
If you have never been able to access the Internet while sitting in traffic, or look up your friend’s Facebook profile on a whim, you may not realize just how great it is to be able to access the Web on a moments notice. The constant availability of information is a great feature. Once you have it, you will never want to own a less advanced cell phone again.
Because so many of us have long commutes to work, and friends who live across town or across the state, we are always in our cars. What happens when you need to go somewhere you have never been? Normally, you get on the Internet and MapQuest it. But with an iPhone you can get accurate directions to any destination with just a few taps on the screen.
When you have an iPhone, you have easy access to the powerful mapping service, Google Maps, which lets you find the local pizza joint, Starbucks or the closest branch of the public library quickly and easily. You can not only get directions to those locations, you can also call them.
For example, if you type in “Starbucks,” you are shown the closest Starbucks to your current location. You can then call them and place your order or ask them questions about their coffee.
The iPhone is a device that not only connects you to your world but also brings you closer to it. Just as technology seems to be pushing the “real world” farther away, the iPhone reverses that trend by connecting you with the world around you in a dynamic, real-world way. And that is something we all can benefit from.
