how come ios4 download for ipod touch takes so long?
I clicked upgrade to 4.0.2/ios4 on itunes and it said 1 hour, so I waited for 1 hour and the backing up thing came up and from them it is only nearly 1/6 of the way loaded and I have waited about 1h 30min -2h!

Mine took about 2 hours to update it’s self to iOS4, others a bit longer depending on how much media is on the device and type of media being backed up during the process.
I got concerned too and called apple tech support asked why it was taking sooooo long and the tech told me it was cuz this is a really major update.

How can I download iOS4 without my iPhone?
My mates got my iPhone until tomorrow evening, but I’d quite like to start the download process overnight as I have a slow internet connection. I’ve searched iTunes but I’ve got nowhere, so is there any way I can download the software without having my iPhone present?
I only want to download it from iTunes, I’m sceptical about any 3rd party website when it comes to this, regardless of how secure they are.

No You cant. Its only when the phone is connected to itunes that the software compares what is installed on it, with what is the latest out. It will then download and install direct.

Can i download ios4 for a jailbroken itouch?
i have a jail broken 3rd generation ipod touch running on 3.1.3 and when i plug it into itunes it wants me to download the new ios4 software for it. If i download the new software, will it un-jailbreak my itouch, or what will happen if i do decide to download it?? help!!

It will most likely un-jailbreak your itouch.
Here’s something to consider: Are you satisfied with how it’s working right now? If so, I’d just leave it alone.
