Your Questions About Iphone Cameras Cctv

Lizzie asks…

CCTV camera for front door?

I was wondering if this is possible and if it is, what kind of camera I would need. I want to setup a camera above my front door so I can see who stops by my house during the day while I’m at work. Is there any camera that can do this? Detect someone is at door, start recording and then save the file to my computer when finished, then I could use a program on my iphone to access and watch that video file on my Iphone? Seems complicated, but we should have the tech. to do this, right? If so, link me to some options. Thanks!

The cheapest way is to fit a CCTV board to your computer, usually these can take up to 4 cameras, wiring from your front door to the computer is the hardest thing. All the cameras will need their own (usually 12V) supply. The cards have motion detection so only record when there is movement in their field of view.

To access your computer remotely you need a static broadband connection from your ISP, normally when you re-connect a different IP address will be allocated to you, this makes it impossible for your remote connection to know where on the web your computer is. With a static IP your web address is constant.

I don’t think your iPhone has the player to play back recorded material (I could be wrong here), but your laptop certainly can from anywhere in the world. CCTV usually has a secure player (which can be installed on your laptop) so other people can’t access it.

Thomas asks…

How can I get CCTV images of my wife with another man out of my head.?

I’ve been with my wife for 12 years now, and recently I overheard her flirting over the phone with various work colleagues. She seemed distant from me, and her personality seemed changed. I installed a web cam which I could access from my iPhone. Three days into installing the secret camera I observed my wife opening the door to a work colleague, they immediately went upstairs, removed their clothing, and started making love in our bed. I watched from work for a few seconds and felt extremely sick to watch the kissing, and having sex in various positions. I then frantically drove home, and fortunately the other person had already left.

I was really sad, crying, and at the same time angry. We talked it through and she said this was the first time, and that she loves me dearly. I have lots of questions that she won’t answer though. Why did they immediately get down to having sex without any foreplay? Why were our wedding pictures moved? Why has she deleted all the text messages on her phone. Can I ever trust her and get the images of my wife I dearly love out of my head. I rang and spoke to the guy she was having sex with, and he agreed that he would never contact her again. He is married with two young children. Should I consider telling his wife what he has done?

I have many questions, and not many answers.

First, I am so sorry you are going through this. You did not do anything for this to have happened. You need to remember that & keep telling yourself that. She is the one that went outside your marriage. I am currently going through the same thing with my husband (we’ve been together for 11 years, married 6). He told me over this past Memorial weekend that he had been having a yearlong affair with one of his co-workers. We want to work it out. I can’t imagine actually seeing the video – it’s bad enough what I’m thinking in my head. That’s absolutely horrible! The first thing to do is to seek a marriage counselor. She also needs to come clean with you. Any questions you have, she has to answer, regardless of what it is. I asked my husband very explicit questions regarding sex with her, conversations, etc. As painful as it was, it’s something that I felt I had to ask because I knew I would always wonder about it.

Should you tell his wife? I know with my husband’s co-worker, who was also married with 2 small children, I wanted to. But then, I thought I needed to concentrate more on my marriage if I really wanted to try & make it work. The fact that you contacted him was more than what I did. She asked my husband to delete all of her contact information & not contact her ever again. She also asked him to make sure I didn’t contact her either. That pissed me big time! So I did send her a text that said “Sorry Rachel, just because you asked, doesn’t mean you get a free pass on this. You fuc%ed this up just as much as he did.” Of course it scared the crap out of her & she threatened to expose it all at their work. Whatever. I stopped caring about her after I decided to try & make it work. It’s hard not to want to have other people hurt as much as you do right now. I get that. I still hurt. The biggest hurdle that you both have to jump is talking & communicating. There will be tears, anger, resentment & hope. But it has to be done. If she’s not willing to answer your questions, you might as well throw in the towel now. Sorry – but communication is the key.

IP security cams are common. They are assigned an IP address and become part of your home’s local area network. The built-in video sever has rudimentary command capabilities to do what you want. If we provide a link, Yahoo answers gets mad.

Go to frys, on the left side, under “Electronic Components”, select Security, then Closed Circuit Television, then wired or wireless cameras… And look for the IP cameras.

Be advised that ALL security cams will require power, so you will need some sort of AC outlet at your front door to do what you want. You will also need to allow remote access to your home’s LAN. Best if that is secured.
