After the same error messages, I finally went directly to the apple store.
You can purchase the iphone for verizon there! Just be sure to know your verizon account info/password.
Mine is ordered without any problems thru apple.
Good luck!

John asks…
Is the iPhone for verizon a knock off?
My friend told me the other day that the iphone coming out to verizon isn’t the real iphone, and that a verizon worker told her this. I have a feeling that she was just trying to make her decision on buying the droid 2 was a smarter move (or the verizon worker just wanted to make a sale)… So is the “iPhone 4″ coming to verizon a different version of Apple’s iPhone 4?

iphone answers:
Well #1, buying an Android phone IS a smarter move. Personally, I would choose an Android phone any day because on the iPhone:
-cant take out the battery
-no removable memory
-only Apple-approved apps
-STILL no true multi-tasking like Android
-cant customize your phone AT ALL
-no Flash support
-cant install apps from your computer
-no widgets
-no free GPS navigation
-no free wireless music downloads
-no ringback tones
-no refunds for paid apps
-all file syncing MUST be done through iTunes (pictures, etc.)
-Android phones have more memory storage
-most Android phones have better cameras
-no standard USB cable like all other phones
-the new iPhone has horrible antenna issues
-instant Android OTA software updates- don’t have to go through iTunes like iPhone
Android is miles ahead of Apple- with the new 4.0 software, Apple is only now letting people do things that Android can, like add folders to their home screen, because God forbid that anyone should be able to do that on their cell phone!! And even in 4 years, they haven’t been able to give the iPhone true multi-tasking capabilities, like Android. It took them 4 years just to put a flash on the camera!! By the time Apple puts out a new iPhone, there’s a better Android phone out 4 months later. Bottom line: they will always be trailing Android.
Android is already selling more phones than Apple, and it’s been out half the time that the iPhone has. The Market already has over 100,000 apps, which is more than the Apple Store had at its 2-year mark. Android’s open-source nature will always be more appealing to developers and phone manufacturers because they can market to every carrier, and dozens of phones, instead of 2 carriers and 1 phone. The possibilities are literally endless as far as Android is concerned, because ANYONE can make an app to do ANYTHING on the phone. With Apple, they have to approve every single app that goes into the Store. They even rejected an app because it said the word Android in it- how far do you really think they’re gonna go with that kind of closed-minded thinking?? I want to decide what goes on my phone, not the other way around..
That being said, no, it is not a knock-off. It is exactly like ATT’s version, except it is made to run on Verizon, not ATT

iphone answers:
Android all the way-Even jail broken the iphone is still so limited
-Customize the phone how you want-such as live wallpapers, back grounds
-Expandable memory
–removable battery
-More choices for features and phones and prices-you can go cheap or high end-High end phones such as the Nexus 1- all teflon coated metal construstion
-Better processors out thats better than the iphone
-No bluetooth transfers on the iphone with out being jail broken
–Free google nav
-Widgets
you can “facetime” aka video call over 3g not like the iphone having to be in a wifi spot for it to work
-I can hold my phone any way i want
-Also Apple is behind on market share…..Android has beat out iOS
-OTA updates..no looking for a little white cord and itunes
-No standard usb connection
-No flash support
-not tied to itunes like a dog to a tree
Oh and Steve jobs don’t tell you what to do with HIS $800 iphone.
