Avoid Printing Problems by Buying the Original Manufacturer’s Ink

Most of us spend so much time on line these days that we do a lot less printing than we used to. Sometimes, though, you still need or want to physically print a document. So we still need printers and ink.

And ink has gotten more and more expensive in recent years. For some, that makes it tempting to refill ink cartridges or buy refilled cartridges to save money. My advice is: Don’t do it! Sooner or later you will be sorry.

Years ago I had an Apple laser printer, and I bought new genuine toner cartridges at first, but they were very expensive! In those days we did a lot of printing, and eventually I did buy high-quality refilled toner cartridges without any noticeable problem. New toner cartridges were so expensive, and recycling and refilling them a few times seemed kinder to the environment. It worked out OK. Maybe I was lucky.

Later I switched to an Epson inkjet printer—before they invented water-proof inkjet ink. I was printing a lot of flyers and things, and the ink got expensive. My friends said I was crazy not to refill the cartridges, as they did, to save money. So I tried it.

First of all, what a mess! But it seemed work OK in the printer, and I did save money. For a while. Then the printer clogged up.

You see, inkjet printers are actually pretty high tech. Microscopic droplets require exact ink properties…In short, the cheap ink clogged up the printer and ruined it. I tried and tried to clean the print nozzles, but it was no use.

By then Epson had come out with printers that used waterproof ink, which was great for artwork, business cards, and other items I wanted to print. So I bought one. Their Durabrite inkjet cartridges were sort of expensive, too, and I was doing a lot of ink-intensive printing of art work in multiple copies. But the water-proof quality kept me honest.

So I keep buying genuine Epson cartridges. I love that water-proof ink, and I don’t want to ruin any more printers.

Until recently the only places I could find to get genuine ink cartridges at good prices were office supply stores and the manufacturer’s web site. So I was pretty much stuck with either retail prices or paying for shipping (or buying much more than I wanted to order at one time).

Now I have a new source for manufacturer’s original ink cartridges at a discount: I can order on line from Retail Blue.
